Muckross Park

An old 18th Century coaching house, Muckross Park Hotel sits in the heart of the Killarney National Park, just a few miles from the quaint old town of Killarney.

The Muckross Park Hotel dates back to 1795, an old coaching house, it was part of the old Muckross House estate of the Herbert Family. Throughout its long 200 year history the hotel has entertained many guests of the Herbert’s as well as figures such as Irish Playwright George Bernard Shaw.

A building of historic character, the Muckross Park Hotel balances old world charm with modern style and sophistication. The reception area boasts plenty of space and is elegantly decorated with polished floorboards and mahogany panelling. While in quiet corners you will find cosy restful lounges of typical country house style.

Each of the hotel’s bedrooms are exceptionally well appointed and individually designed, featuring splendid beds and old fashioned furnishings and some historic suites offering luxury and relaxation in an idyllic setting.

There are plenty of dining options at Muckross Park, the Blue Pool restaurant offers a fine dining experience set in an ambient candlelit drawing room, with a menu of international cuisine, served with presentation and class. Alternatively G.B Shaw's, named after the illustrious visitor to the hotel, is a Bistro Style restaurant with creative dishes mixing the traditional with some modern twists. Molly Darcy’s adjacent to the hotel serves up traditional Irish food to match its traditional Irish atmosphere with roaring open fires, stone walls, beamed ceilings and live Irish music.

The Muckross Park Hotel, with its friendly and professional staff achieves an elusive balance, attracting guests who enjoy the outdoor life and the host of activities the area has to offer as well as those who simply wish to spoil themselves in an atmosphere of total relaxation.
